LOSS OF A B-25 MITCHELL BOMBER

A United States Army Corps B-25 Mitchell bomber left Port Moresby for Townsville on 15 September 1942.  Last contact was made 25 miles from Townsville.

 

NOTE:- This could be the same event as the following two incidents:-

B-25 crashed near Herbert River on 15 Sep 1942

B-25 Failed to arrived in Townsville on 23 October 1942

 

NOTE:-   The book "Diary of WWII - North Queensland" by Peter Nielsen, has a very similar event dated 23 October 1942.  They could possibly be the same event.
