Army Camps were established at Camp Redbank and at a location near today's Swanbank Power Station. Artillery, mortar and small arms fire originated from the south of the Swanbank camp towards White Rock. There are still some remains of gun pits used during WW2 present in the area.

White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate
In the 1942- 1943 period US Troops of the 32nd Division based at Camp Cable trained in the White Rock and Spring Mountain areas, particularly where the Redbank Plains Library and the Recreational Reserve are located today. Australian soldiers from the 6th Battalion, RAR trained at Spring Mountain in 1966 before going to Vietnam.
